Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets
Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Move to fresh air and seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Bathe eyes with running water of sterile eye wash for at
least 15 minutes. Transfer to hopsital for specialist eye
examination.
Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing unless stuck to the skin and
wash immediately with copious amounts of water and soap for
20 minutes. Obtain medical attention if symptoms develop.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Obtain immediate medical attention
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: carbon dioxide, foam, dry powder, water spray.
Product arising from burning: Oxides of carbon and sulfur.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Wear protective
clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Avoid creating dust, use dust suppressing aid where needed.
Contain spillage, use bunding where possible. Do not allow
substance to enter soil, natural bodies of water, rivers,
sewers or water purification plants.
Absorb onto earth or inert absorbent and pickup
mechanically. Transfer to closable, labelled salvage
container for disposal by appropriate method.
Handling and storage
Handling: As for all substances not yet fully tested, precautionary
measures during handling chemicals should be considered.
With all processing steps where exposure/contact exists,
suitable chemical gloves such as Baypren, nitrile rubber or
PVC and eye protection such as goggles or safety spectacles
with side shields should be worn. Gloves should be disposed
of after use.
Contact with the skin, eyes and respiratory system must be
avoided.
During open handling dust formation must be prevented by LEV
and full respiratory protection and suitable protective
clothing such as PVC suit and air hood or full air suit
worn.
Engineering measures must be in place to ensure sufficient
extraction / exhaust ventilation and measures against
electrostatic loading.
Measures must be taken to ensure all equipment used is not a
source of ignition.
Storage: Store product in a cool, dry area. Keep containers tightly
sealed in original packaging. Maintain good levels of
housekeeping to prevent dust build up. Tightly close
containers after use. Avoid retaining part containers.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Inner packaging: 20" x 24" black conductive tube sealed with
nylon tie strap.
Outer packaging: 24" x 36" Conductive Vermason black bag
(300gauge)
Outer Container: 470 x 600mm fibreboard drum

Special provisions / remarks
- Remarks:
- Transport: Not classified as dangerous in the meaning of transport,
however recommendations are: -
Containers should be tightly sealed and protected from the
elements.
Any equipment used should not be a source of ignition.
During transport the usual appropriate measures should be
followed to prevent against damage and spillage such as the
use of shatterproof bundles, correct stacking and paletting
to prevent against falling.
For mixed packaging, this substance must not be carried with
food and food stuffs.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Stability and reactivity
Danger other than fire: Precaution should be taken against build up of electrostatic
charge. Ensure equipment used in handling is earthed and
all operations such as handling and packaging are earthed
where possible.
Chemical reaction with water: None reported.
Dust explosion: The substance is an organic powder. Most such powders have
the capacity to form potentially explosive dust clouds when
subject to mechanical processes. Adequate controls must be
in place to take account of this risk.
Avoid dust formation and maintain a high level of
housekeeping to prevent formation of dust deposits. Ensure
measures are in place to prevent build up of electrostatic
charge and eliminate all sources of ingition. Handle in a
fully enclosed system where possible.
Dust explosion determined by test: N
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Within the proposed use i.e. synthesis, the material is
completely converted and cannot not be recovered.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: The preferred option is incineration of the substance and/or
controlled discharged to a licenced hazardous WWTF.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Product wastes and empty containers are still hazardous and
should be decontaminated and disposed of in accordance with
local regulations.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not determined
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable (Substance exclusively used as an
intermediate in the pharmaceutical industry)
