Materials and methods

Principles of method if other than guideline:
30-40 mL sample was placed in a Claisen distillation apparatus. The pressure was reduced to about 40 torr (mmHg) by using a water aspirator. The sample was heated until condensing vapor could be observed in the condenser. The boiling point at 40 torr (mmHg) was determined by the thermometer placed at the distillation head.
The sample was heated further to see if any additional fractions could be collected. The sample was heated up to 215 oC. Boiling points above this temperature at 40 torr (mmHg) could not be determined by this method.
