- Details on test solutions:
- PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF TEST SOLUTION (especially for difficult test substances)
1.0 g test substance was dissolved in and made up to 10 ml with DMF (dimethyl formamide). This solution was diluted to 100 mg/l with water.
- Controls: negative control, solvent control
- Chemical name of vehicle (organic solvent, emulsifier or dispersant): dimethyl formamide (DMF)

Test organisms
- Test organisms (species):
- Daphnia magna
- Details on test organisms:
- TEST ORGANISM
- Strain: DAPHNIA MAGNA STRAUS 1820.
- Source: CIBA-GEIGY Ltd., Facilities, Basle.
- Age at study initiation (mean and range, SD): young daphnia (0 - 24 h old).
- Length at study initiation (length definition, mean, range and SD): < 300 micrometer.
- Method of breeding: Parthenogenetic reproduction.
Feed: Suspension of green algae supplenented by trout chow and/or powder milk and/or yeast; in such quantities that food is consuned after 24 hours
- Feeding during test: None during the test.
- Pretreatment:
24 hours before the start of the test reproductive daphnia ars separated fron the young by sieving through a 300 micrometer sieve. This operation is repeated immediately before the start and the young daphnia (0 - 24 h old) are retained for the test.
