Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Based on the result of the UN N.1 test (preliminary test), the substance is not flammable on ignition. This is supported by the flash point result, obtained for the substance in aqueous solution.

Based on flash point and boiling point, the substance is non-flammable on ignition.

Based on experience in handling and use and the chemical structure, pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not to be expected.

In the liquid state (aqueous solution) the substance is not self-heating, because the liquids are not self-heating unless adsorbed on a large surface. In the solid state it is not self-heating on the basis of the negative result of the self-ignition test.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data on flammability of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 or Directive 67/548/EEC, and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification: the substance is not flammable on ignition on the basis of the UN N.1 test. For an aqueous solution of the substance, the flash point was determined to be above 100 °C. Based on the chemical structure and experience in handling and use, pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not expected. The substance is not self-heating neither in liquid, nor in solid state.
