Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with water
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with water
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Combustion products may contain carbon oxides, soot and
hydrogen bromide gas. The substance does not begin to
decompose until 600 deg C. [UK c.a.: Water, carbon dioxide,
foam and powder are assumed to be suitable extinguishing
agents].

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Sweep up and destroy in an approved incinerator.

Handling and storage

Handling: Wear gloves and safety glasses. Avoid dust formation. Avoid
static electricity discharges during handling.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery is not possible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not necessary as no hazardous effects have been identified.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method, use stack gas purification to remove
hydrogen bromide. Polybromo-dibenzodioxins and -
dibenzofurans were not detectable when the substance was
incinerated at 800 deg C for ten minutes (detection limit
<0.8 ppm).

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery after incorporation in polymers is not possible.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable when the substance is incorporated in a
polymer.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Dispose of polymers by normal methods.
