Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In the short term toxicity test to fish the LC50 value of the test substance, 2-Propylheptyl methacrylate based on the loading rate was determined to be >0.055 mg/L.

In the short term toxicity test to fish the NOEC value of the test substance C17-Methacrylate based on nominal (loaded) concentration was >= 100 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No data are available for 2-Propenoic acid, 2-methyl-, C13-C15-branched and linear alkyl esters, but for the read-across substances 2-Propylheptyl methacrylate (CAS 149855-64-1) and C17-Methacrylate (CAS 1473386-29-6).

The short term toxicity test to fish was conducted according to the OECD guideline 203. The acute lethal toxicity of 2-Propenoic acid, C16-18-alkyl esters to Danio rerio (Zebrafish) under semi-static exposure conditions over a period of 96 h. The singly applied loading rate was 100 mg/L. No mortality or toxic effects were observed. Based on this result the LC50 value of 2-Propylheptyl methacrylate is considered to be >0.055mg/L (mean initial measured concentration).

In a 96 hour acute toxicity study, zebrafish (Danio rerio) were exposed to C 17 Methacrylate at nominal (loading) concentrations of 0 (control), 100 mg/L under static-renewal conditions in accordance with the OECD 203 test guideline. The water pH, temperature and dissolved oxygen were within acceptable guideline specifications. The 96 hour NOEC was ≥100 mg/L based on the nominal (loading) concentration of the test substance.
