Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
E06-16 thermally decomposes at a temperature that is lower than its normal boiling point at so it is therefore, not possible to determine the normal boiling of the product.
Executive summary:

E06-16 thermally decomposes at a temperature that is lower than its boiling point. This conclusion was arrived at while measuring the vapor pressure of the product using ASTM D2879. In this standardized test method the decomposition temperature of a product is clearly defined as the temperature at which a plot of the logarithm of the vapor pressure vs. the reciprocal of the absolute temperature deviates from linearity.  This deviation from linearity in the plot was observed to occur at 185 deg C for E06-16. At this temperature the determination of the vapor pressure is not possible due to the decomposition, but by extrapolating the vapor pressure data up to the point of decomposition the vapor pressure just prior to decomposition at 185 deg C can be determined to be 637 Torr. The normal boiling point of a liquid is defined as the temperature at which the vapor pressure of the liquid is equal to the pressure of the atmosphere at sea level, 760 Torr. For E06-16 the vapor pressure is lower than atmospheric pressure at its decomposition temperature and this indicates that the decomposition of E06-16 will occur before it can boil.
