Description of key information

To assess the short-term toxicity of the registered substance to aquatic organisms, QSAR predictions of reliability 1 (Klimisch rating) were performed for the three aquatic trophic levels (algae, aquatic invertabrate and fish). The predicted fish 96h-LC50 was supported by a reliability-3 acute test performed on Zebra fish.

The aquatic toxicity of the registered substance was assessed using three validated QSAR models for the Mode of Action in question (esters).

Fish: LC50 (96h): 71 mg/L

Aquatic invertebrate: EC50 (48h): 175 mg/L

Algae: ErC50 (72h): 367 mg/L

The supporting reliability-3 study on Zebra fish allowed to support the predicted fish 96h-LC50. It was performed according to international guidelines.

In this study, the procedural average recovery was only 46.9 %. Results were not corrected according to this recovery level. Under the test conditions, the 96h-LC50 for the test item was 30.4 mg/L.

When the 96h-LC50 (30.4 mg/L) is multiplied by the recovery loss (65.0 mg/L), the procedural average recovery being 46.9 %, the value that is obtained is very close to the 96h-LC50 value predicted with the valid QSAR model (71 mg/L).
