- The validation criteria according to OECD 203 were fullfiled: Dissolved oxygen concentration was not less than 60 % of the air saturation value, the pH wasin the range between 6.0 and 8.5 and the temperature of the test medium was between 21 and 25°C.

- The percentage of mortality at each concentration between LC-0 and LC-100 was transformed into a particular Probit-value. Since there is no Probit-value for 0 % and 100 % effect and - on the other hand - the values at the edges of the toxicity-range are regarded valuable for the evaluation of the results, the Probit for 0 % was said to be 3.36 (this corresponds to 5 %) and the Probit for 100 % was said to be 6.65 (this corresponds to 95 %). These values were chosen, because a result of 0 (or 10) dead fish can mean any percentage between 0 % and 100 % (or between 90'% and 100 % on the upper edge), since there were only 10 - not 100 - fish tested. The mean of this inaccuracy is 5 % (or 95 %, respectively). With these values, a linear regression analysis of the Probit = f(log c) function was performed.

An investigation of the lethal effects of test substance to the Zebra-fish (Brachydanio rerio) was carried out according to OECD Guideline 203 "Fish, Acute Toxicity Test". Fish were exposed in separate test batches to different concentrations of test substance in the test medium over a test period of 96 h (each tank with 10 fish). The concentrations used in the test were 0, 1, 1.8, 3.2, 5.6, 10 and 100 mg/L. Criteria for the inspections of test fish during the exposure period were, above all, the mortality rates, but moreover abnormal symptoms in the swimming behaviour, in visible physiological functions as well as in the outward appearance of the test fish were recorded. Fish were considered dead if touching of the caudal peduncle produced no reaction and if no breathing movements could be observed. The toxic properties of the test substance were found to be as follows: LC100 = 10 mg/L, LC50 = 7.5 mg/L, NOEC = 5.6 mg/L.
