Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Read-across to the assessment entities soluble zinc substances and neodecanoic acid is applied for the assessment of zinc neodecanoate, basic since the ions of zinc neodecanoate, basic determine its fate and toxicity in the environment. Reliable data available for soluble zinc substances and neodecanoate indicate that the moiety of ecotoloxicological concern are zinc cations. For microbial assays, in total 108 individual high quality NOEC/EC10s represent 4 nitrogen transformation processes, 5 carbon transformation processes and 8 enzymatic processes and range from 17 mg Zn/kg dw for respiration to 2623 mg Zn/kg dw for phosphatase.

Neodecanoate is mobile and does not have a high potential to partition into soil. Data on the toxicity to aquatic microorganisms point to a low (if any) toxic potential. A similar low potential for toxicity of neodecanoate may be assumed for soil microorganisms.
