Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General advice:
Remove and wash contaminated clothing before re-use.
In the case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately (show the label where possible).
Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.
First aider needs to protect himself.
If inhaled:
Remove to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing.
Call a physician immediately.
In case of skin contact:
Wash off immediately with plenty of water.
Call a physician immediately.
In case of eye contact In the case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.
If swallowed:
Immediately give large quantities of water to drink.
Do NOT induce vomiting.
Call a physician immediately.
Notes to physician:
Treat symptomatically.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media:
Carbon dioxide (CO2)
Foam
Water spray
Dry powder
Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment.
Fire may cause evolution of:
Phosgene
Gaseous hydrogen chloride (HCl).
Special protective equipment for firefighting:
Personal protection through wearing a tightly closed chemical protection suit and a self-contained breathing apparatus.
Additional information on firefighting:
Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions:
Use personal protective equipment.
Respiratory protection: In case of inadequate ventilation wear respiratory protection.
Hand protection: Solvent-resistant gloves (butyl-rubber); min. 0,5 mm thickness; Break through time: > 480 min
Eye protection Wear eye/face protection.
Skin and body protection Wear suitable protective equipment.
General protective and hygiene measures
Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.
When using, do not eat, drink or smoke. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Keep away from food, drink and animal feedingstuffs.
Avoid breathing vapors, mist or gas.
Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.
Engineering measures Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas.
Apply technical measures to comply with the occupational exposure limits.
Environmental precautions:
Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system.
Avoid subsoil penetration.
Methods for cleaning up:
Soak up with inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust).
Dispose of as special waste in compliance with local and national regulations.
Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly while observing environmental regulations
Handling and storage
Advice on safe handling:
Provide sufficient air exchange and/or exhaust in work rooms.
Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location.
Advice on protection against fire and explosion
Normal measures for preventive fire protection.
Storage space and container requirements:
Store at room temperature in the original container.
Hints on storage assembly Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs.
Storage specifications Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place.
