Additional information
No studies on the "short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates" are available on the target substance. For this reason data on an analogue substance (Similar Substance 02) was taken into account. More details about the similarities between the two substances is reported in section 13.
Daphnia were exposed for a maximum of 48 hours to a concentration range of 56 to 1000 mg/l forming a geometric progression with a factor of 1.8. the test was performed in duplicate with 10 daphnia per vessel.
After 24 hours of exposure the total rate of immobilitation of daphnia was 90% at 1000 mg/l, 50% at 560 mg/l, 90% at 320 mg/l and 45% at 180 mg/l. No significant immobilitation of daphnia was seen at or below 100 mg/l. The 24 hour EC50 was 280 mg/l with 95% confidence interval ranging from 208 to 412 mg/l (slope=2.39).
After 48 hours of exposure immobilitation of all dahpnia exposed was seen at concentration of 320 mg/l and higher. At 180 mg/l the total incidence of immobility had increased to 75%. Still no significant immobility was observed at or below 100 mg/l. The 48 hours EC50 was 142 mg/l with 95% confidence interval ranging from 126 to 168 mg/l (slope=5.56).
Finally the No Observed Effect Concentration for the test substance with respect to mobility of Daphnia magna was found to be 100 mg/l after 48 hours of exposure.
