- Germanium exists in different chemical forms and the bioavailability of these forms depends on various physico-chemical parameters of which water solubility and solubility in biological fluids are the main determining factors. It is accepted that the actual bioavailable concentration of the germanium cation in both animals and in humans is an important determinant of toxicity.
