Description of key information

Appearance / physical state / colour: On the basis of physical observation and using the sense of smell, test chemical was observed to be a dark blue liquid.

Freezing point: Freezing point of test chemical was determined with freezing temperature method, and it was observed to be less than -10.24°C at 975.1hPa.

Boiling point:The boiling point determination of test chemical was done following OECD Guideline 103 and according to the method of Siwoloboff. The test was conducted and no strings of bubbles were observed up to 275 °C. Hence, boiling point was determined to be greater than 275°C at 975.1hPa.

Density: The density of test chemical was determined following OECD Guideline 109 and according to the IS 4730:1994, using glass pycnometer. The mean density of test chemical was determined to be 1.0816 g/cm³ at 20°C and 970.6hPa.

Particle size distribution (granulometry):The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is marketed or used in a non solid or granular form.

Vapour pressure:Modified Grain method was used to estimate the vapour pressure of test chemical using MPBPVP v1.43 of EPI SUITE. The estimated vapour pressure of test chemical at 25 deg C was 4.4263E-17 Pa.

Partition coefficient:Based on the available data from modeling database EPI suite using the KOWWIN V1.68 programme, the estimated octanol-water partition coefficient (logPow) of the test substance was 3.0777.

Water solubility:The water solubility determination of test chemical was done by spectrophotometric method. The water solubility was determined to be 381808 mg/L at 25°C.

Surface tension:The study does not need to be conducted because based on structure, surface activity is not expected or cannot be predicted.

 

Flash point:The flash point determination of test chemical was done following closed cup method using Pensky-Martens flash point apparatus. The test was conducted in replicates and mean flash point was determined to be 115.3°C at 976.2hPa.

Auto-flammability:Test chemical did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C pressure of 966hPa. This indicates that the test chemical is not auto-flammable.

Flammability: As the flash point of the test chemical was 115.3°C, it did not meet the GHS criteria. Hence the chemical was considered as non-flammable.

Explosiveness:The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties.

Oxidising properties:The study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance contains oxygen or halogen atoms which are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied.

pH: The pH of 1% w/v aqueous solution of the test chemical was 4.61 at 22°C.
