Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

According to a Mackay Level I model calculation the main target compartment for the copolymer of hexanedioic acid and 1,5-pentanediol will be the hydrosphere (91 %) followed by soil and sediment (4-5 % each). This calculation also reflects very low volatility from surface waters. With a calculated Koc of 10 l/kg, the sorption potential to soil or sediment organic matter is expected to be very low (Blume scale).

The QSAR calculated rate constant for the OH sensitized photodegradation of the non-cyclic diester of hexanedioic acid with 1,5-pentanediol is approximately 2.40E-11 cm³/(molecule * s). At 500,000 OH radicals / cm³ (approximate 24-hour mean in central) this corresponds to a half-life of 16 hours. Biodegradation was observed in a test on inherent biodegradability and is expected to be the main mechanism of removal from the environment. The partition coefficient 1-octanol/water of the main constituent is 2.79, indicating an insignificant potential for bioaccumulation.
