Bis trifluoromethanesulfonimide lithium (TFSILi) is a white powder with a melting point of 233°C. No boiling point could be determined because the substance decomposes before boiling (Paradis, 2002a). The density of TFSILi at 20°C is 2.15 g/cm3 (Paradis, 2002b; Howes 1993)

The vapour pressure is negligible at 25°C (Tremain, 2002; Taylor, 1992). The octanol/water partition coefficient (log Pow) is -1.46, the water solubility is > 1000 g/L at room temperature (Groult, 2002a,b; Howes, 1993). The surface tension is 73.9 mN/m at 20°C and a concentration of 1000 mg/L. TFSILi is therefore not considered to be surface active (Martel, 2002b).

The self-ignition temperature of the substance is > 420°C at 101.3 kPa (Paradis, 2002d; Howes, 1993). Bis trifluoromethanesulfonimide lithium is not flammable (Martel, 2002c; Howes, 1993), oxidizing (Demangel, 2014; Howes 1993) or explosive (Schuurman, 1992). Furthermore, no pyrophoric properties and flammability in contact with water have been observed in experimental studies (Howes, 1993).

Particle size distribution finally, was determined by laser diffraction and showed that the majority of the particles of TFSILi was < 100 µm. nearly 13% of the particles were: < 10 µm and nearly 83% of the particles were: 10 < d < 100 µm.
