Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Based on the low log Kow of 2.7, of 2,4,6-trimethylphenol, bioaccumulation of the substance in biota is not expected.

This is also supported by a study published in 1982 by the Japanese Government. Respective results showed for a six week lasting experiment with Cyprinus carpio under flow-through conditions, considering exposure concentrations of 0.2 and 0.02 ppm, BCF values as high as ≥6.5 to ≤ 10 L/Kg and ≥2.7 to ≤ 8.1 L/Kg, respectively. These data support the very low bioaccumulation potential of 2,4,6-trimethylphenol, as set out in the Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment, Chapter R.11: PBT/vPvB assessment (2017). The later details that substances showing a BCF higher than 2000 or 5000 can be assigned to be B or vB.
