Additional information

Calculation of PNECs is not possible or appropriate in the absence of demonstrated aquatic toxicity. Moreover, the pure substance is not classified as hazardous to the environment and, in the pure form, is used exclusively as a cosmetic ingredient at industrial sites where stringent risk mitigation measures are routinely incorporated into operational procedures.

Conclusion on classification

The substance is known to be readily biodegradable, has low potential for bioaccumulation and is used exclusively as a cosmetic ingredient. In addition, the test item exhibited no toxicity to Daphnia or algae during short-term testing at loading rates in excess of the experimentally determined water solubility. As a result, it is inappropriate to conduct further tests on vertebrate animals and classification is not required under the terms of Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
