Description of key information
The test item was found to be toxic to Daphnia Magna showing the following results:
- EC50: 1.1 mg/l based on measured concentrations
- NOEC: < 0.5 mg/l based on nominal concentrations

The toxicity to fish was determined in a GLP study under static conditions over a test period of 48 hours, in accordance with EU-method C.2 and OECD guideline 202.
Each test and control group consisted of 20 Daphnia; 5 in each of 4 replicate vessels. Test dilutions were prepared by adding test article to the dilution water (filtered l dechlorinated tap water). Dilutions above 1 mg/l had visible undissolved test article. Concentrations of test article in pooled samples of each exposure level were measured at beginning and end of test. Nominal concentrations of 0.5 1 1 and 2 mg/l had measured concentrations between 96 and 145% of nominal. At 4 and 8 mg/l l measured concentrations were between 37 and 69% of nominal at start and between 85 and 97% of nominal after 48 hrs. These results suggest a slow rate of dissolution of test article above nominal concentrations of 2 mg/l. Lowest nominal exposure in test (0.5 mg/l) resulted in 5% immobility. Based on measured concentrations the 48-h LC50 was 1.1 mg/l.
