- The melting point of Carboxy-TH-naphthyridin is determined as 157.6 °C. Atmospheric pressure is assumed.
- Executive summary:
A DTA/DSC system was used to determine the melting point in accordance to test method A.1 (section 1.4.4), „determination of the melting point“, described in the EC-Guideline. Carboxy-TH-naphthyridin is closed up in a crucible made of aluminum and heated up in a DTA/DSC system (heating rate 1 K/min). In comparison with an inert sample (empty crucible) the temperature difference and the heat effect are recorded.
Carboxy-TH-naphthyridin is melting at 157.6 °C (average of four determinations) and no pressure is reported. The test item recrystallized after the melting process. A second heating could not reproduce the melting point which indicates a chemical transformation of the test item. This assumption is supported by the light orange coloured melt (open crucible) and by the orange melt (closed crucible) in the crucible.
