Details on preparation of test solutions, spiked fish food or sediment:
A supersturated solution of WAFS was used. Therefore the test item was added and stirred for 24 hours on a magnetic stirplate at 23- 25°C. After stirring was stopped test substance settled down for one hour. The aqueous part was removed and used as standard solution.
Under exposure conditions the solution was changed in interval of 96 hours (qualitiy control).Fresh test solution was prepared 24 hours in advance.

Sampling and sample treatment:
At each sampling time 7 fish were removed, were killed instantly and were weigh. For calculation of test item concentration in fish, the named 7 samples were whetted with anhydrous sodium sulfat and were digested by adding 50 ml mixture of 65% nitric acid and 70% perchloric acid. In addition samples were dried and dissolved. Final solution was injected to ICP-MS after filtering with 0.22 µm millipore membran.

Water samples were divided in to two (unfiltered sample and a filtered sample through 0.22 µm millipore membran). Water samples were analysed by ICP-MS.

During the test (28 d) the range of the BCFss value of test substance is 24 - 558, when exposed to the supersaturated solution of the test item tin sulfide.
Accordingly, also ditin trisulfide is not expected to be bioaccumulative.
Executive summary:

The bioconcentration factor of tin sulfide in fish (Gobiocypris rarus) was determined with reference to OECD Guideline 305B "Bioconcentration: Semistatic Fish-Test". Fish were exposed for 28 days. After 0, 3, 7, 10, 14, 21, 28 days of exposure (0.01 mg/L test item in solution) a sample of seven fish and water samples were used for calculation of BCF. Stady state was calculated by plotting the concentration of test item in fish against the time, if the uptake curve become approximately asymptotic to time axis (changing extent did not exceed +- 20%). The results show that BCF reach the steady state at seventh day.Therefore, the steady-state period BCFss for fish was calculated from day 7 to day 28, and the mean is 558 and 24.0, respectively, according to the solubility of 0.6 µg/L of test item tin sulfide and a messured exposure concentration of 14 µg/L.
