First-aid measures
Health Hazards:
The substance is corrosive to the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract.
Corrosive on ingestion.
Inhalation of decomposition products of the substance may cause lung oedema.
The effects may be delayed. Medical observation is indicated.
Eye and Skin Contact: Corrosive, causing damage to skin, eyes and air passages.
In case of contact with substance:
Skin: Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Refer for medical attention.
Eyes: First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
Ingestion: Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Refer for medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES:
Extinguish using agent suitable for type of surrounding fire.
Use water in flooding quantities as fog. Cool all affected containers with flooding quantities of water. Apply water from as far a distance as possible.
Approach fire from upwind to avoid hazardous vapors and toxic decomposition products.
Fight fire from protected location or maximum possible distance.
Do not use dry chemical fire extinguishers containing ammonium compounds.
Accidental release measures
Spillage:
Immediately remove and properly dispose of any spilled material.
Handling and storage
Handling:
Avoid breathing vapors.
Avoid bodily contact with the material.
Do not handle broken packages unless wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
Wash away any material which may have contacted the body with copious amount of water or soap and water.
If contact with the material anticipated, wear appropriate chemcial protective clothing.
Storage:
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated location at a temperature below 50 deg C to avoid slow decomposition.

Exposure controls / personal protection
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT & CLOTHING:
Adequate exhaust and general ventilation is necessary to prevent formation of dangerous concentration of chlorine gas.
Wear appropriate chemical protective gloves, boots.
Contaminated protective clothing should be segregated in such a manner so that there is no direct contact by personnel who handle, dispose, or clean the clothing.
Quality assurance to ascertain the completeness of the cleaning procedures should be implemented before the decontaminated protective clothing is returned for reuse by the workers.
Stability and reactivity
HAZARDOUS REACTIVITIES & INCOMPATIBILITIES:
Reacts with water and with acids releasing chlorine.
Forms explosive compounds with ammonia and amines.
Strong oxidizer.
Other incompatible materials include organics, nitrogen containing compounds, dry chemical fire extinguishers containing mono-ammonium phosphate, combustible or flammable materials.
Disposal considerations
This substance, when discarded or disposed of, is a hazardous waste. The transportation, storage, treatment, and disposal of this waste material must be conducted in compliance with local regulations for hazardous wastes.
Disposal can occur only in properly permitted facilities. Check state and local regulation of any additional requirements for disposal conditions.
