All test sample/cellulose mixtures exhibit burning times greater than those of the 3:7 and 2: 3 reference substance/cellulose mixture.

EC A.17 test:

For ratio 10/90 and 20/80 (test substance/cellulose) the burning time was 418 and 33, resp. No burning for the other ratios.

Complete combustion was never observed. Burning times for the reference mixtures: 164 -172 s.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the transport data, magnesium nitrate (anhydrous) has to be classified for the hazard 'Oxidising solid-Category 3' according to CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.

Based on UN test results, magnesium nitrate hexahydrate does not need to be classified for this hazard.

Based on its composition, the aqueous solution of magnesium nitrate containing <5% calcium nitrate and < 5% nitric acid, does not have to be classified for the hazard 'Oxidising solid-Category 3' according to CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
