Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A dispersion procedure was developed and then particle size distribution was analysed by laserlight diffraction. The percentiles calculated from particle size distribution were x10: 0.61 - 0.62 µm, x50: 2.26 - 2.30 µm and x90: 5.48 - 5.61 µm.

Additional information

The particle size distribution was determined in a study (Fraunhofer 2014) that follows a recognised method. A dispersion procedure was developed and then particle size distribution was analysed by laserlight diffraction.

A second sample of residues, cementation and reduction was also analysed in a study (Outotec 2010) in which the particle size distribution was determined in an experimental study using a sieving system. The study is not GLP but followed sound scientific principles, was well documented and is considered suitable for use for this endpoint. The particle size distribution study indicated a D80 of 306 µm for residues, cementation and reduction, precious metal refining.
