Executive summary:

A study was conducted to determine the toxicity of the test substance, C16 TMAC (30% active in water), to the microorganism according to DIN Norm 38 412 Part 8, in compliance with GLP. In this study, Pseudomonas putida were exposed to the test substance at nominal concentrations of 0.24 - 31.3 mg/L (i.e., 0.07 - 9.39 mg a.i./L) for 16 h. A positive control, 2,4 dichlorophenol, was also included in the study. No analytical verification of the test concentration was performed. Under the study conditions, the EC10, EC50 and EC100 for P. putida were determined to be 1.6, 3.2 and 7.7 mg/L (nominal), respectively (equivalent to 0.48, 0.96 and 2.31 mg a.i./L, respectively) (Stuhlfauth, 1993).

Description of key information

The test substance is considered toxic to P. putida with a 16 h EC50 and EC10 values at 0.96 and 0.4 mg a.i./L (nominal) respectively.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
0.96 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
0.4 mg/L

Additional information

A study was conducted to determine the toxicity of the test substance, C16 TMAC (30% active in water), to the microorganism according to DIN Norm 38 412 Part 8, in compliance with GLP. In this study,Pseudomonas putida were exposed to the test substance at nominal concentrations of 0.24 - 31.3 mg/L (i.e., 0.07 - 9.14 mg a.i./L) for 16 hours. A positive control, 2,4 dichlorophenol, was also included in the study. No analytical verification of the test concentration was performed. Under the test conditions, the EC10, EC50 and EC100 values for P. putida were determined to be 1.6, 3.2 and 7.7 mg/L (nominal), equivalent to 0.40, 0.96 and 2.31 mg a.i./L, respectively (Stuhlfauth, 1993).
