Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In a modified Sturm test according OECD 301B the test substance bis(4-tert-butylcyclohexyl) peroxydicarbonate could not be demonstrated to be readily biodegradable under the chosen test conditions.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
under test conditions no biodegradation observed

Additional information

A five-day bacterial inhibition assay employing the conditions of the closed bottle test (OECD 301D) showed that bis(4-tert-butylcyclohexyl) peroxydicarbonate was not inhibitory to microorganisms. This experiment served as a surrogate for a toxicity control to the subsequently performed modified Sturm test. Bis(4-tert-butylcyclohexyl) peroxydicarbonate was not readily degraded in the modified Sturm test according OECD 301B. Cumulative CO2 production by inocula containing the test substance was equivalent to a maximum of 3 % of its ThCO2 (2.43 mg CO2/mg), indicating that it was not degraded under the conditions of the test.
