Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The test item 2,2'-bipyridine was found to be negative in in vitro bacterial reverse mutation assays with and without metabolic activation (S9) in the Salmonella typhimurium tester strains TA98, TA100, TA1535, TA1537, and TA1538.
Executive summary:

Genetic toxicity of the test item 2,2’-bipyridine were assessed in an in vitro bacterial reverse mutation assay (Ames test) on Salmonella typhimurium. The following five tester strains were used: TA98, TA100, TA1535, TA1537, and TA1538. S9 was used as metabolic activation system.

The test item 2,2’-bipyridine was reported to be negative in all five tester strains without and with metabolic activation.
