Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Determination of the inhibition of the mobility of daphnids was carried out with the substancedisodium 6-hydroxy-5-[(4-sulfonatophenyl)diazenyl]naphthalene-2-sulfonateaccording to OECD Guideline 202.

The test substance was tested at the concentration 100 mg/L. 0% Daphnia were immobilised at the end of the test.

The median effective concentration (EC50) for the test substance, disodium 6-hydroxy-5-[(4-sulfonatophenyl)diazenyl]naphthalene-2-sulfonate, in Daphnia magna was determined to be > 100 mg/L for immobilisation effects.

This value indicates that the substance is not likely to be hazardous to aquatic invertebrates as per the CLP criteria.

Based on the studies summarized in the above table for the target substance disodium 6-hydroxy-5-[(4-sulphonatophenyl)azo]naphthalene-2-sulphonate and the read across substance, the endpoint value was found to be EC50 = >100 mg/L to486.5mg/L and LC50=295 mg/L in a 48 hrs.; on the basis of Intoxication effect. Based on the above weight of evidence values, the substance it is concluded that the test substance dose not qualifies for the aquatic toxicity.
