Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

The registered substance is readily biodegradable, has a log octanol-water partition coefficient at 4.8 but the predicted bioconcentration factor (BCF) values are well lower than 2000, therefore does not meet the criterion for persistence (P) and bioaccumulation (B).

For the T criterion, no data is available in chronic conditions. However, in acute conditions, the lowest E(L)C50 value between aquatic invertebrates, algae and fish is 1.2 mg/L (algae). As this value is greater than 0.1 mg/L, the registered substance is presumably not T. In addition, the substance is not classified as CMR and there is no other evidence of chronic toxicity.

In conclusion, the registered substance could not be considered as a PBT or vPvB substance.

Regarding the hydrolysis products of the registered substance, Acetate and 4-tert-Butylcyclohexanol are both biodegraded over 60% within 28 days. As the substances are not Persistent in the environment, the B- and T-criterion were not assessed. The hydrolysis products of the registered substance could not be considered as PBT or vPvB substances.
