Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Melting Point: -136 °C to -62.87 °C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
-76.22 °C

Additional information

No experimentally measured melting point values were available. Estimated values using EPA MpBpWIN (v1.43) ranged from 89.58 °C to -62.87 °C (INVISTA, 2013). An experimental result on a close structurally related substance (2 -methyltetrahydrofuran) was reported to be -136 °C (GESTIS, 2013). The selected melting point of -76.22 °C from the various estimation methods was chosen as a suitable midpoint between the analog substance and the range of estimated values.
