Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In studies conducted according to OECD Guideline 301 (F and B) the test substance proved to be not inhibitory to microorganisms. The highest tested concentration was 100 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The inhibitory effects of Bis(2-ethylhexyl) carbonate to microorganisms were assessed in ready biodegradability studies.

In a study conducted according to OECD Guideline 301 F "Manometric Respirometry Test" (static test), no inhibitory effects of the test substance were observed in the toxicity control at 100 mg/L. The biodegradation of the item mixture in the toxicity control was found to be 38% after 14 days of incubation. Thus, the demanded threshold value of 25 % is exceeded and the test substance can be identified as non-toxic in a ready biodegradability test.

In the toxicity control of a ready biodegradability study conducted according to OECD Guideline 301B 'Modified Sturm Test/CO2 Evolution Test, Bis(2-ethylhexyl) carbonate (20 mg/L) was not inhibitory to the biodegradation of the reference substance (35 mg/L).
