Additional information

Toxicity to soil macroorganisms, terrestrial arthropods, terrestrial plants and soil microorganisms

No exposure to the terrestrial compartment, is intended during the life cycle of the test substance. Indirect exposure to the environment is unlikely, which is also indicated by the manufacturing process. Therefore, no experiment is intended and the predicted no effect concentration (PNEC) for soil was derived from the PNEC for freshwater using the equilibrium partitioning method.

Toxicity to birds

The acute oral toxicity of the test substances Toluene 2,4- diisocyanate and Toluene 2,6- diisocyanate were determined in Sturnus vulgaris (European starling) by standardized testing procedures (Schafer et al., 1983). Wild-trapped birds were preconditioned to captivity for 2 to 6 weeks and were usually dosed by gavage with solutions or suspensions of the test chemical in propylene glycol. After an application of 18 hours of the test substances LD50 values greater than 100 mg/kg bw were determined each.

Toxicity to other above-ground organisms
