Acute dermal

Data lacking

No valid studies are available. The available study gets a K4 since no original references are available only secondary references.

The available LD50 is 4300 mg/kg bw.

Classification and Labeling

Since only one secondary reference is available the data is not sufficient for C&L purposes.

LD50 rabbit: 4300 mg/kg (2700-6900 mg/kg)

The acute dermal LD50 for 2-phenyl-2-propanol in rabbits was reported to be 4.3 g/kg (2.7–6.9 g/kg). Rabbits (4/dose) were treated with 1.25, 2.50, and 5.0 g/kg. No mortalities were reported at 1.25 or 2.5 g/kg. At 5 g/kg, two animals died on day 1 and one on day 2. Clinical signs included negative righting reflex, lethargy, and coma at 5 g/kg. Necropsy observations included oral and nasal excretions, red areas in the intestines, dark and/or mottled livers, dark areas in lungs, dark spleen, blood in bladder, and edematous, red, hard, and/or thick skin.
