Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with water, seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water, seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention, symptomatic treatment.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Combustion products may contain carbon and sulphur oxides.

Suitable extinguishers are foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide

and water mist.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Contain spillage, avoid contact when collecting material

(wear protective clothing). Collect spillage by sweeping up

after absorption on suitable material (eg kieselguhr,

blahglimmer). Transfer to suitable containers for disposal.

Dispose of waste by incineration.

Handling and storage

Handling: Use in contained systems. If mist formation likely, use

local exhaust ventilation. Use splash prevention devices

during transfer operations (filling and pouring). Wear

protective glasses, clothes (rubber apron) and gloves.

Storage: Keep containers tightly closed. Observe usual precautions

for handling organic chemicals. Empty containers should be

collected and stored at a specific location.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for reuse is not possible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable (FRG c.a. summary) [UK c.a.: Hydrolysis to

the alcohol and free acid may neutralise the hazardous

properties].

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method. Waste gas treatment to remove sulphur

oxides should be used.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for reuse is not possible.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method. Sulphur oxides may be formed if

incinerated in large amounts, waste gas treatment should be

used.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.
