Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: The substance is not volatile, but if exposed to vapours,
remove person to area of fresh air. Seek medical advice
immediately.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15
minutes. Seek medical advice immediately. Show copy of
safety sheet to medical staff.
Treat as for alkanes.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and
wash before re-use. Seek medical advice immediately.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Rinse mouth with water and drink small quantity of water
(500 ml). Do not induce vomitting. Seek medical advice
immediately.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: No special precautions for the substance. Treat as for
solvents. (Water spray, carbon dioxide or chemical foam)
Product arising from burning: Complete combustion will lead to carbon dioxide, silicon
oxide and water.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: No special precautions, although face protection with
breathing apparatus, coveralls and chemical resistant gloves
are recommended.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Absorb onto sand, paper or other suitable absorbent material
and dispose of as hazardous waste. The area of spill may
be washed with large quantities of detergent and water.
Handling and storage
Handling: Protective equipment when handling the substance should
include suitable gloves resistant to silanes and alkanes,
goggles and protective outer clothing.
The substance is not considered to be hazardous and no
special precautions are required, although it is recommended
that direct contact is avoided.
Storage: No special precautions, although preparation should be
stored in sealed containers.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Expected to be imported in steel containers containing a
maximum of 19 litres of the substance. Smaller containers
of 1.2 and 4 litres are also intended to be used.
Containers will be returned to the supplier for re-cycling.

Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not possible to recover after use or if spilled.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Small amounts (< 1 kg) can be mixed in a large excess of
water and can be discharged safely to waste water.
The diluted solution is not considered to be dangerous.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: This is recommended for disposal
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: No other methods recommended for disposal
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable for the public
