Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: In case of inhalation, seek medical advice immediately and

start with an adequate cortisone based treatment.

Move to fresh air.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse immediately with gently running water for 15 minutes,

maintaining eyelids open. Consult at once an ophthalmologist

or a physician.

Emergency measure - Skin: Rinse skin immediately with copious amounts of water.

Immediately remove contaminated clothing. Consult a

physician.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Only if ingestion occured within less than 10 minutes: wash

mouth at once and have the victim drink copious amounts of

water (often vomiting will be induced). In any case consult

a physician immediately and show label.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Dry powder, dry sand, carbon dioxide

Product arising from burning: Hydrogen cyanide, carbon oxides, hydrogen chloride,

poisonous gases and vapour.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: The on-site fire crews would tackle any localized fire with

a dry powder extinguisher. If a major fire is involved, the

building sprinkler system would automatically activate. The

process drainage system is arranged such that all process

effluent is captured within a catchment pit which prevents

transfer to the site effluent treatment plant, or waste

waster treatment plant (WWTP).  As required, the contents of

this pit can be transferred to a holding  tank for

subsequent analysis and sent for incineration either on site

or off-site.  If there is a risk of fume inhalation, the

firemen would wear breathing apparatus and fire-fighting

PPE.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: In the event of spillage, the solid material will be

collected in dry form, sealed in a lined drum, labeled and

incinerated.  The subsequent water washings are isolated,

analyzed and treated in the waste treatment unit or

incinerated depending on concentration.

Liquid spillages would be isolated in catchment pits within

the manufacturing area.

Handling and storage

Handling: Engineering:

Closed handling with drum containment system.

Where open handling occurs for small quantities during

sampling. Local exhaust ventilation or laminar flow is used.

PPE:

Operators to wear;

Nitrile gloves in line with EN 388 and EN 374

Disposable air fed suit which is also a chemically

protective suit in line with EN 465

Protective footwear to EN345

Safety glasses in line with EN1661

Storage: The enclosed substance, suitably labeled, will be stored

under cover in a warehouse unit at ambient temperature until

required for use in the production building. Only the

required amount for one batch will be transferred to the

production building at any one time.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The solid will be delivered in drums, 50 kg nett.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: reacts with bases and reducing agents. Avoids heating.

Chemical reaction with water: React with water violently. Release hydrogen chloride and

corrosive gases.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: There is no provision for recovery of any materials from the

process.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: It is not anticipated that this will apply. Any unwanted

material would be incinerated.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: All process effluent will be contained, prevented from

entering the environment and will be sent for incineration.

entering the environment and will be sent for incineration.
