Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air. Call a physician if symptoms

develop.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediately flush eyes with water and continue washing for

several minutes.

Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash skin with water and soap.

Obtain medical attention if irritation persists. Wash

clothing before reuse.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: If a large quantity (50 ml or more) has been swallowed, and

if patient is fully conscious, give two glasses of water.

Induce vomitting. Obtain medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Combustion products may contain carbon and sulphur oxides

together with some hydrogen fluoride gas, phosphorus oxides

and soot. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and skin

protection. For large fires, apply alcohol type or all

purpose foam. For small fires carbon dioxide or dry chemical

may be used.

Product arising from burning: HF, COx, SOx, P2O5

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Use self-contained breathing apparatus and protective

clothing.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Contain spillage and collect for disposal by incineration at

an approved facility. Wear protective equipment (including

eye and skin protection), use a self-contained breathing

apparatus in high vapour concentrations.

Handling and storage

Handling: Avoid ingestion, contact with eyes/skin and inhalation of

vapour. Avoid contact with clothing. Use proper protective

clothing and equipment (neoprene gloves and goggles). Wash

thoroughly after handling.

Storage: Store at ambient temperature and protect from flame,

sunlight, fluorescent- and UV-light.

Keep container closed.

Avoid mineral acids.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Can :       4.54 Kg    mild plain steel

Pail:      18.14 Kg          ,,

Drum:     263    Kg

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: In contact with flame, this material may generate hydrogen

fluoride gas which can cause redness of the skin as well as

burning and irritation of the nose and eyes.

WARNING: Sudden release of hot organic chemical vapours or

mists from process equipment operating at elevated

temperature and pressure, or sudden ingress of air into

vacuum equipment, may result in ignitions without the

presence of obvious ignition sources.

incompatible materials:

Mineral acids

Chemical reaction with water: None known

Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery is not possible

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable, no hazardous effects.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: [665] Recommended method of disposal. An approved

incinerator with waste gas treatment (for sulphur oxides,

hydrofluoric acid and phosphorous oxides) should be used.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None
