First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air. Seek medical attention.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical

advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with water immediately and seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek immediate medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, foam, carbon dioxide or dry powder may be used.

Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon and

nitrogen together with some soot.

Protective equipment: A self-contained breathing apparatus and suitable protective

clothing should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear suitable protective clothing (see 2.3.1). Sweep up

spill or absorb onto sand, earth or any suitable adsorbent

material. Transfer to labelled containers and dispose of in

accordance with local regulations. Wash the spill site with

water.

Handling and storage

Handling: Use only in well ventilated areas. Avoid inhalation and

contact with skin and eyes. Suitable protective clothing,

gloves, safety goggles and a dust mask should be worn.

Storage: Store in tightly closed containers away from heat, sources

of ignition, metals and oxidising agents.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The substance is alkaline by nature and may be effectively

neutralised by the addition of weak hydrochloric acid

(A631).

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Small quantities may be neutralised, diluted with water and

run to drain.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance is not expected to be appreciably removed in
