Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: In case substance is inhaled, remove to fresh air. If
breathing is difficult, apply artificial respiration and get
medical attention immediately.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Wash immediately with water for at least 15 minutes. Call a
physician.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash affected areas with soap and water after removing
contaminated clothing.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Drink plenty of water and call a physician immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Dry chemical, CO2

Product arising from burning: CO, CO2 and NOX

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Fire-fighting personnel should wear full-face,
self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Evacuate personnel from the immediate vicinity.

Prevent spillage from spreading by using sand (for banking)
and absorb the liquid substance using a suitable material.
Transfer to a suitably labelled, sealable container.

Do not allow liquid to enter open waters or ground water.

A limited cover garment (BS-7184) should be worn, along with
goggles or face shield and solvent resistant gloves. For
full details refer to Section 2.3.1.

Handling and storage

Handling: Gas tight coverall with self contained breathing apparatus
or an air-supplie complete cover garment is recommended when
handling EDMAA. However, a limited cover garment (BS-7184)
is adequate when dealing with an accidental spillage.

Goggles or face shields (BS-2092) and solvent resistant
gloves (BS-1651) should be worn.

Technical safety equipment: local exhaust ventilation.

Storage: Store in a clearly labelled, sealed container in a cool,
dark and dry area. Keep away from sources of ignition and
protect from light and heat.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: None

Chemical reaction with water: None; hydrolysis occurs slowly.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: In case material is spilled or contaminated during handling,
it can be re-used after purification through extraction by
toluene and distillation under reduced pressure.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Hydrolysis, biodegradation or incineration will neutralize
any potential hazardous effects.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Extensive dilution (under 10 g/m3 water) before discharge to
rivers.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: As NOx is produced, EDMAA should be incinerated at a plant
equiped to treat NOX products.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Concentration of EDMAA should be reduced at 10 g/m3 water by
extraction or dilution.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable
