Description of key information

The in-vivo acute dermal and the eye irritation of the test substance Reaction mass of iso-tridecyl 3-mercaptopropionate and iso-dodecyl 3-mercaptopropionate were determined in GLP laboratory studies according to the respective OECD guidelines (acute dermal irritation: OECD guideline 404 and EU method B.4; acute eye irritation: OECD guideline 405 and EU method B.5). The test was performed with rabbits in triplicates and all validity criteria were met.

Additional information

The test substance Reaction mass of iso-tridecyl 3-mercaptopropionate and iso-dodecyl 3-mercaptopropionate

produced a primary irritation index of 1.3 and was classified as a slightly ("mild") irritant to rabbit skin according to Draize classification scheme. No corrosive effects were noted. The test material did not meet the criteria for classification as irritant or corrosive according to EU labelling regulations. No symbol and risk phrase are required.

Effects on skin irritation/corrosion: slightly irritating

Effects on eye irritation: slightly irritating

Justification for classification or non-classification

The test substance Reaction mass of iso-tridecyl 3-mercaptopropionate and iso-dodecyl 3-mercaptopropionate did not meet the criteria for classification as irritant or corrosive according to EU labelling regulations. No symbol and risk phrase are required.
