Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

There are no aquatic toxicity studies available for the registered substance. However, measured short-term data are available with freshwater fish, invertebrates and algae for two analogue substances. Measured long-term data are available with fish and invertebrates for one analogue substance.

The key short-term values are:

Fish:

Water accommodated fractions of Hydrocarbons, C8-C11, n-alkanes, isoalkanes <2% aromatics (GS160) and Hydrocarbons, C9-C12, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics (GS170) produced 96-hour LL50 values of >100 mg/L and NOELR values of 100 mg/L with common carp, Cyprinus carpio. No mortality was observed in the highest dose tested.

Invertebrates:

A 48-hour EL50 value of >100 mg/l and NOELR value of ≥100 mg/l (WAF loading rate) (highest concentration tested) have been determined for the effects of the read-across substance Hydrocarbons, C8-C11, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics (GS160) on mortality of Daphnia magna.

A 48-hour EL50 value of >100 mg/l and NOELR value of ≥100 mg/l (WAF loading rate) (highest concentration tested) have been determined for the effects of the read-across substance Hydrocarbons, C9-C12, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics (GS170) on mortality of Daphnia magna.

Algae:

A 72-hour EL50 value of >100 mg/l and NOELR value of ≥100 mg/l (WAF loading rate) (highest concentration tested) have been determined for the effects of the read-across substance Hydrocarbons, C8-C11, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics (GS160)  on growth rate of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata.

A 72-hour EL50 value of >391 mg/l and NOELR value of ≥391 mg/l (WAF loading rate) (highest concentration tested) have been determined for the effects of the read-across substance Hydrocarbons, C9-C12, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics (GS170) on growth rate of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata.

The key long-term values are:

A 32-day NOEC value of ≥100 mg/l (loading rate WAF) (highest concentration tested) has been determined for the effects of the read-across substance Hydrocarbons C9-C12, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics (GTL Solvent GS170) on hatching, survival and growth of Pimephales promelas.

21-day EL10 and EL50 values of greater than 100 mg/L loading rate WAF, have been determined for the effects of the read-across substance Hydrocarbons C9-C12, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics (GTL Solvent GS170), on mobility and reproduction of Daphnia magna. The No Observed Effect Loading Rate (NOELR) was ≥100 mg/L loading rate WAF.

Predicted long-term data are available with aquatic microorganisms.

A computer-based program, Petrotox (PETROTOX-UDM_ver3.01-2006-01438-01-E), was used to estimate the toxicity of hydrocarbon solvent products.

Toxicity to microorganisms:

The Hydrocarbons, C9-C11, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, <2% aromatics, estimated protozoan,Tetrahymena pyriformis, 48-hr EL50 value for this substance is 0.950 mg/L based on growth inhibition. These data are used as read-across data to Hydrocarbons, C9-C11, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics.
