Additional information

Reaction mass of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol, 4,6-di-tert-butyl-o-cresol and 2,6-di-tert-butylphenolis a non volatile solid substance with low water solubility and low vapour pressure. Moreover,Reaction mass of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol, 4,6-di-tert-butyl-o-cresol and 2,6-di-tert-butylphenolis an industrial chemical which is not available to general public (consumers) as such.

Exposure toReaction mass of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol, 4,6-di-tert-butyl-o-cresol and 2,6-di-tert-butylphenolis relevant in occupational settings where the skin/eye contact with the substance may be possible.

However,Reaction mass of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol, 4,6-di-tert-butyl-o-cresol and 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol componentsare registered antioxidants for use in a variety of consumer products, and ist major component, BHT, is also registered for use in food and feed. Therefore, evaluation of systemic toxicity ofReaction mass of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol, 4,6-di-tert-butyl-o-cresol and 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol componentsvia oral exposure would be relevant for assessment of human health risks associated with this chemical.

In general, the main target organ for systemic toxicity of Reaction mass of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol, 4,6-di-tert-butyl-o-cresol and 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol components is the liver. This is supported by the metabolism studies for the substance’s components.

The following systemic toxicity values were observed in studies in rodents:

2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol (CAS No. 128-37-0):

NOAEL (rats, subchronic & chronic systemic toxicity) =25 mg/kg/bw/day
