Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No explosive reaction towards heating, shock or friction.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Testing according to EC A14 method under GLP.

Heating sensitivity test (i.e. Koenen tube) is similar to UN test series 2 (TDG Manual of Tests and Criteria), but is not sufficient for classification according to CLP Regulation. Moreover, the chemical structure contains a N-halogen (ionic) bond and an epoxide group, therefore, potential for explosivity cannot be excluded based on the screening procedure. However, the Oxygen Balance is low (-190), hardly above the threshold value of -200, so explosiveness seems unlikely.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the negative results of the experimental study, the substance is not classified as explosive according to Directive 67/548/EEC (DSD) criteria.

Data are insufficient, and therefore inconclusive, according to Regulation (EC) No1272/2008 (CLP) criteria.
