Description of key information

According to VDI 2263, SAV was Dipeda Clavulanate tested as flammable solid

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
highly flammable

Additional information

Using a mould a powder train of 250mm length, 20mm width and 10mm height is produced on a low heat-conducting base plate. The powder train is ignited at one end with a microburner (minimum diameter 5mm). Ignition time up to 2 minutes (5 minutes for metal powders). In a preliminary essay, it is observed, whether the combustion propagates over a distance of 200mm within 2 minutes. If the time is longer than 4* minutes (40* minutes for metal powders), no further testing is required. In all other cases, the burning rate is determined by measuring the combustion time for over a distance of 100mm after an initial burning distance of 80mm from the ignition point. Furthermore, it is indicated, if the addition of 1ml water beyond the 100mm timing zone stops the flame for at least 4 minutes. *(The limiting value according to the UN Recommendations on Transport of Hazardous Goods are 2 and 20 minutes respectively)

Justification for classification or non-classification

A substance is classified a "flammable solid" according to the EU-Directive 67/548 Annex V, if the combustion time over 100mm is less than 45 seconds (10 minutes for metal powders) in one of six essays. Flammable solids must be specially labeled as class 4.1 for transport:

Pre-Test: Time for Combustion (200mm): 24 s

Time for Combustion (100mm): 11 s

Min. Time for Combustion (100mm): 8 s

Flame stoped by water drops: Yes
