Description of key information

The auto-flammability properties of the test item were assessed based on read-across to Reaction products of IPDA with bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) and Reaction products of MXDA with bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE), as these substances show similar physico-chemical properties. For the test item no self-ignition temperature up to a temperature of 44 °C to 61 °C was expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The asymmetrical epoxy-amine adduct of Reaction Product of Bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) with IPDA and MXDA was not tested for auto-flammability properties. A read-across approach was applied to assess auto-flammability using data from the symmetrical epoxy-amine adducts Reaction products of IPDA with bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) (Kiss, G.; LAB, Study No.07/523 -355An, 2008) and Reaction products of MXDA with bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) (Kiss, G., LAB, Study No. 07/524 -355AN, 2008), as these substances show similar physico-chemical properties. For Reaction products of IPDA with bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) no self-ignition temperature was observed up to 61 °C (melting range was determined to be 55 - 61 °C) (see: Key-001-Auto flammability-LAB-2008). For Reaction products of MXDA with bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) no self-ignition temperature was observed up to 44 °C (melting range was determined to be 37 - 44 °C) (see: Key-002-Auto flammability-LAB-2008). Thus, for Reaction Product of BADGE with IPDA and MXDA no self-ignition temperature up to a temperature of 44 °C to 61 °C was expected.
