Decades of experience handling saturated perfluorocarbons have indicated no toxic effects for any of these substances, which has been confirmed by acute toxicity testing by contract laboratories including HRC, SRI Int, Safepharm and Toxicol on representive substances from the class. Acute oral LD-50 values were found to be greater than 100 ml/kg, and acute inhalation >2%. Their use in medical applications in the blood, lungs and eyes further supports the data.
