Administrative data

First-aid measures

Inhalation: Fresh air, refer to medical attention.
Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Get medical attention immediately.
Eye contact: First rinse with plenty of water for 20 minutes, then take to a doctor.
Ingestion: If swallowed, wash mouth thoroughly with plenty of water and give water to drink. Get medical attention immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

Carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder, alcohol foam or polymer foam. Water may be effective for cooling but not for extinguishing.
Keep containers, drums, etc., cool by spraying with water.

Accidental release measures

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus, rubber boots and heavy rubber gloves.

Handling and storage

Substance 1-bromopropane is transported in bulk containers, transferred on site into bulk tanks. Pumps and pipelines are used in a closed circuit to load reactors without human exposure.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Used in closed systems. Operators use appropiate protective gloves, facial protection (goggles or face shield with safety glasses), body covering clothes and safety shoes. And if direct contact is neccessary than approved respiratory protection is used.

Stability and reactivity

Safe storage: fire proof, separated from strong oxidants, strong bases

Disposal considerations

When spilled: Absorb spilled liguid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place. Waste must be removed accordingly to environmental rules en regulations.
