Additional information

Justification for selection of acute toxicity – oral endpoint
In accordance with section 2 of REACH Annex XI, the acute oral toxicity study (required in section 8.5 of Annex VII) cannot be conducted as a consequence of the physical properties of the substance.
The material is a bulk metal and as such cannot be used for toxicity testing in this form. A powder form of the test material can be generated; however this reacts in water to emit flammable gases. Consequently, the powder form is also unsuitable for toxicity testing.

Justification for selection of acute toxicity – inhalation endpoint
In accordance with section 2 of REACH Annex XI, the acute inhalation toxicity study (required in section 8.5.2 of Annex VIII) cannot be conducted as a consequence of the physical properties of the substance.
The material is a bulk metal and as such cannot be used for toxicity testing in this form. A powder form of the test material can be generated; however this reacts in water to emit flammable gases. Consequently, the powder form is also unsuitable for toxicity testing.

Justification for selection of acute toxicity – dermal endpoint
In accordance with section 2 of REACH Annex XI, the acute dermal toxicity study (required in section 8.5.3 of Annex VIII) cannot be conducted as a consequence of the physical properties of the substance.
The material is a bulk metal and as such cannot be used for toxicity testing in this form. A powder form of the test material can be generated; however this reacts in water to emit flammable gases. Consequently, the powder form is also unsuitable for toxicity testing.

Justification for classification or non-classification

In accordance with the criteria for classification as defined in Annex I, Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008, in the absence of test data the test material does not require classification for acute oral, dermal or inhalation toxicity.
