Description of key information

The melting range of Cerium trichloride was determined to be 794-812 °C, at ambient conditions, applying the capillary method (Jantsch et al., 1929).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
794 °C

Additional information

The relatively high melting point was supported by a melting point of 817 °C as reported in an US-EPA toxicological review (Gehlhaus et al., 2009).
