Preliminary test:
The substance does not ignite by a hot flame from a gas burner. The test item just melts.
According to the definition in the Council Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, method A.10, the test item is not considered as flammable.
Step 1: no gas generation
Step 2: no gas generation
Step 3: no gas generation
Step 4: no gas generation
The test item did not ignite when falling from 1 m height or within 5 minutes after deposition. Therefore the test item has no pyrophoric properties according to the definition in the Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008, method A.13.
Description of key information
non flammable
no pyrophoricity
no flammability on contact with water
not self-heating
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Flammability:
- non flammable
Additional information
The substance is non-flammable as determined in the test according to EU A.10. The substance does not liberate flammable gases on contact with water as determined in the test according to EU A.12. The substance is non-pyrophoric as determined in the test according to EU A.13. Since it is a solid completely molten at 160 °C, the substance is not self-heating.
Justification for classification or non-classification
The available data on flammability of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification:
No propagation of burning in a test according to E.U. method A.10.
The substance does not liberate flammable gases on contact with water (E.U. method A.12).
The substance is non-pyrophoric (E.U. method A.13).
The substance is not self-heating as a solid completely molten at 160 °C.
